America’s Must-Visit Winter Destinations

Who says winter has to be a boring time of year? There are plenty of ways to make the most of the cold weather in the US, and a visit to these exciting cities and attractions can make this season all the more magical.

Leavenworth, Washington
Modeled after a Bavarian town, the oasis of Leavenworth, Washington, transforms each winter into an incredible spectacle of lights and merriment. Hundreds of thousands of twinkling lights are strung across each building and tree, and there is plenty of sledding, ice sculpting, and other seasonal activities.

Park City, Utah
Park City, Utah Thousands of winter sports enthusiasts flock to Park City each year for the incredible snow-covered mountains populated with skiers and snowboarders. But for those who want to stick around after the lifts close, the city also boasts an amazing nightlife and restaurant scene, as well as playing host to the Sundance Film Festival each January.

This snow-lover’s paradise in Bridgton, Maine, is one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in America—with more than forty slopes of varying difficulty and classes from first-class trainers. There are also plenty of terrain parks and diamond slopes for more advanced skiers and snowboarders

Winter festivals, Minnesota
Each year, the state of Minnesota is home to dozens of exciting winter fairs and festivals, with great food and family-friendly activities abounding. For those who enjoy the snow, the Winter Tracks Festival, located in Cook County, offers guided snowshoe and dogsled tours, as well as snow art. In February, the Waseca Sleigh and Cutter Festival boasts a parade led by a group of Clydesdales, as well as other events for the whole family to enjoy.

Brandon, Vermont
There’s nothing quite like winter in Vermont, especially the small town of Brandon, nestled in the state’s gorgeous woodlands. Visitors can enjoy charming bed-and-breakfasts with picturesque views and winter activities like skiing and snowshoeing.
